The very first clock was made in 2000 BC. It was not a clock with hands or numbers it was a hour glass. The Ancient Egyptians divided the night from the day in 12 hour time periods. The first mechanical clock was made in Europe in about 14 hundreds. Grand father clocks are shaped by machine and smoothed by hand.

How did they keep track with an hourglass? Did they have someone that was just there job?
