Why do we have earth day? By: Makayla and Trent.

We celebrate Earth day in order to make us more aware of our environment. It began in the 1970's and continues today. I think we celebrate Earth day because we live off of the Earth we need Earths air we need Earths gravity. We need so many things from Earth, I mean we need water, food, air, gravity, medicine, supplies for shelter. Earth doesn't only give humans all those things it gives all the animals too. That is why I think we celebrate Earth day to give thanks to all the things it has given us.

I think we celebrate Earth day because maybe thats when the Earth was made maybe?!?!  And maybe its when a war happened. I think we have Earth day because thats the Earths birthday. Earth day was made in 1970. To tell people about environmental issues. Earth day is a world wide holiday. Sometimes it is a week long. In 1960 people were aware of pollution. It took ten years to make it a holiday.

Now we will show you some pictures.

Why do we have Earth day ? by: Luke

Because it works!  Earth Day broadens the base of support for environmental programs, rekindles public commitment and builds community activism around the world through a broad range of events and activities.  Earth Day is the largest civic event in the world, celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities.  More than a billion people participate in our campaigns every year.We celebrate Earth day in order to make us more aware of our environment. What is a lunar eclipse??? by Caleb, Tommy & William

A lunar eclipse is when the moon passes directly behind the earths shadow. This only happens when the sun, earth & moon are all in a row. Only when the earth is in the middle. it can only happen when the moon is a full. A lunar eclipse you can see from anywhere in the world as long as it is night. Lunar eclipses last a pew hours where a solar eclipse only lasts a pew minuets.

There are only two or three lunar eclipses a year. there are about two or three solar eclipses a year.

The lunar eclipse will only happen in the Americas. It will happen twice this year, and twice next year. Here are the dates April 15, 2014, October 8 2014, April 4, 2015, and September 28, 2015. The lunar eclipse will be visible almost of America. The reason the moon is red  because on the moon on the eclipse the rim of the Earth is RED.

What is a lunar eclipse? By: Makayla, Trent and Luke.

A lunar eclipse is when the moon goes around the Earth, and the Earth circles around the sun. Every once in a while, the moon, the Earth, and the sun come in one line. When this happens, the Earth's shadow covers the moon.  During an eclipse, the moon looks red. A lunar eclipse happens two or three times every year. Did you know that there is a lunar eclipse tonight? And that it is at 12:53 is the exact time.

An eclipse in which the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earth's shadow. When a lunar eclipse happens the moon turns red.

A lunar eclipse sometimes only happens every decade. A lunar eclipse is when the moon turns red. A lunar eclipse is when the moon lines up with the sun. A lunar eclipse is a really cool thing. We are going to show you some pictures of an eclipse.

what is a lunar eclipses???????????????????????????? By Mary And Phoenix...

                                  Phoenix

lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in "syzygy") exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipsedepend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes."
                 Mary
I think that a lunar eclipse is where the moon goes behind the earth's shadow.
"an eclipse in which the moon appears darkened as it passes into the earth's shadow.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth's shadow falls on the Moon, and a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's shadow falls on the Earth."

Why do bees buzz? By Mary and Phoenix

                                                                        MARY
Bees buzz for two reasons, First, the rapid wing beats of many species create wind vibrations that people hear as buzzes.

                                                                 PHOENIX

The larger the bee, the slower the wing beat and the lower the pitch of the resulting buzz.

Why do bees hum and more?? By Caleb William & Tommy

Bees hum Because there wings are flapping so fast that it makes a little hum. I think that is pretty cool. When honey bee sting something there stinger comes off and they slowly die. There are 16,000 different types of bees. About five percent are social bees the most common is the honey bee.

During World War 1 honey was used to treat the wounds of soldiers because it attracts and absorbs moisture making it a valuable healing agent. Honey never goes bad."The buzz that you hear when a bee approaches is the sound of its four wings moving at 11,400 strokes per minute they fly an average of 15 miles per hour."

Here is some bee jokes

How does a queen bee get around her hive?
She's throne!

Why do bees hum?
Because they do not Know the words!

What did the bee say to the naughty bee?
Bee-hive your self!

Bee facts! By: Makayla, Trent and Samantha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bess hum because of how fast they flap their wings, the bees wings flap sooooooooo fast that it makes a little noise that sounds like a hum.

Did you know that when a bee stings some one their stinger comes out, and there are some body parts connected to the stinger so it rips those parts out which kills the bee.

When a bee gets older and they should die in a few days, their brain stops getting older, but their body does. In fact their brain starts to get younger.

A bee can also recognize a persons face if they've seen them before.

We are going to tell some jokes now!

M.What are the smartest kind of bees? A spelling bee!

T.What kind of bee drops things? A fumble bee!

M.What bee is goo for your health? Vitamin bee!

T.Why do bees have sticky hair? Because of the honey combs!

M.What do you call a bee born in May? A MAYBEE!!!!

T. Why do bees hum? Because it forgot the words!

Sinkholes are part of the slow, natural process of erosion in Florida’s limestone terrain that occur over thousands of years. These common geologic phenomena generally occur where the limestone is within a few hundred feet of the land’s surface.

How are sinkholes made? By: Makayla, Phoenix and Trent

A sinkhole usually forms by erosion caused by frequent exposure to water.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Most sinkholes occur in areas where the bedrock is formed from soft minerals and rocks like salt, gypsum, limestone, dolomite.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Sinkholes appear all over the United StatesFlorida, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri and Pennsylvania.

I think that sinkholes are bad in some countries, because they destroy peoples homes.

I think that sinkholes are made because the wind is getting stronger which makes the hole go deeper.

I think that when you play with dirt, and you put water on it it sinks out of your hands right? Well I think that's sort of what happens with the sinkholes. All the rain and floods that happen will probaly make the ground sink which is a sinkhole. But the water has to be touching limestone.
