Bees hum Because there wings are flapping so fast that it makes a little hum. I think that is pretty cool. When honey bee sting something there stinger comes off and they slowly die. There are 16,000 different types of bees. About five percent are social bees the most common is the honey bee.
During World War 1 honey was used to treat the wounds of soldiers because it attracts and absorbs moisture making it a valuable healing agent. Honey never goes bad."The buzz that you hear when a bee approaches is the sound of its four wings moving at 11,400 strokes per minute they fly an average of 15 miles per hour."
